Best Dressed at the iHeartRadio Music Awards

By: Audrey Brower

Last Monday, March 27, iHeartRadio hosted its annual award show dedicated to recognizing the most streamed and successful artists on the iHeartRadio stations. As with every award show, some celebrities showed up wearing eye-catching, elegant red-carpet attire while other looks were less impressive. Here are five of the best-dressed celebrities at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.

1) Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift shocked everyone with this stunning head-to-toe Alexandre Vauthier Couture. Along with being one of the best dressed, Swift also walked home with the Innovator Award. This treasured award is presented to a select few artists who have “impacted global pop culture throughout their career.” Swift’s outfit is just as innovative and unique as her career. At first glance, this look is confusing and appears to be ill-fitted. However, upon closer inspection, it is easy to appreciate the green gem detailing against the plain black fabric. The hood is a clear statement and something entirely original when it comes to award show fashion. Along with the hood, the connected boots are a timely trend that has appeared in designs from other luxury brands such as Versace.

2) Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers keeps it simple and classic with this black Rodarte dress. While Bridgers herself did not walk home with any awards, she notably awarded Swift her Innovator Award. Bridger’s dress is proof that you can never go wrong with a simple, sleek, well-fitted black dress. Black satin was the perfect, timely material to use for this essential red carpet dress. Additionally, it is refreshing to see the halter neckline return in such an innovative way. Bridgers adds a personal touch with signature black lipstick — essentially tying the whole look together. Certainly, Bridgers demonstrates how to make a staple black dress unique and personal.

3) Lenny Kravitz

Unexpectedly, Lenny Kravitz showed up wearing one of the best looks of the night. As the host and performer for this year’s award show, Kravitz did not fail to make his presence known. Clearly black was the color of the night and Kravitz’s distinguished, yet classic all-black look was no exception. In both looks, Kravitz successfully experiments with a number of patterns and textures, from leather to sequins. Kravitz’s sequin pants allude to 1970s disco while remaining very modern and current. Finally, Kravtiz tops off the look with an iconic signature touch — a pair of oversized black sunglasses.

4) H.E.R.

H.E.R.'s monochrome blue David Koma look offers a nice break from the numerous all-black looks on the carpet. While alarming at first, the blue color is a reminder that Spring fashion is on the rise and returning to the carpets. Each individual piece would work phenomenally as a stand-alone. However, combining the pieces creates a bold and memorable red carpet look. H.E.R.’s look also shares some similarities with Lenny Kravitz’s black monochrome look. The wide-legged pants were definitely a staple at the show and sunglasses helped add a personal, yet cohesive touch.

5) Becky G

With black being the unofficial color of the night, Becky G owns this tight, black Julien MacDonald dress. Becky G walked home with the sought-after, Latin Pop/Reggaeton Song Of The Year. Her dress is reminiscent of many 2010s trends but reimagines them in a fresh way. The cold shoulder adds a nice dimension and differentiation to the dress. Additionally, the leopard print pattern — a staple of 2010s fashion — is subtly done which makes the dress intriguing and eye-catching. While many people lack an appreciation for 2010s fashion, it is clear that Becky G brought back the best of the era.
